Hello Coffee Lovers,

Since it's the end of the month we wanted to share some quick news and updates but Before we go, please complete your survey if you haven't done it already. We still have 112 backers who haven't completed their survey yet.

Production:

As we mentioned in the earlier update, we almost finished manufacturing all the components. We send out them to the coating vendor and here is the result from some components. The photo shows the Assembled version of the pin, the base, and the inner burr.   

The video shows the body parts, and the tooling is almost completed.

Timeline:

We started the assembly phase for some of the inner components, but, again, everything connected with each other. Even though we finished tooling the %90 of the components, we still have to wait for the rest to start the coating prosess. After that, the assembly phase will begin. This will be the fastest phase of all the production levels because everything will be ready!!

We’ll send an update again when we have the mass assembled products in hand. We are working hard to keep the project on track as much as possible. Thanks again for your patience and for coming along with us on the journey.

Hello Coffee Lovers, 

We just wanted to share some quick news and updates regarding the Backerkit surveys. Thanks to everyone who jumped on early and filled out their details!

Thank you to everyone who has filled out the survey so far (88% of backers and counting). If you haven’t been able to complete the survey yet, then please do so as soon as you can - there's only a week to go. 

Surveys will be locked at the end of the month. So if you have already completed the survey but  want to make any changes (such as add any of the discounted add-ons to your order) you only have one week remaining to be able to do this.

The last day to make final updates to your order is April 30.  After this date, we will lock your reward selections and charge cards for add-on item purchases, pledge upgrades, and pre-orders. You can update your shipping address up until we lock addresses for shipping.

We're 1,074 surveys down, 147 to go.

For everyone who hasn't completed their surveys, please get them finished ASAP. We need to get detailed information about your choices for production and shipping. So the quicker you can finish this off the better.

If you haven't received your survey yet, then have a look at these possible solutions below.

•  Check your spam and All Mail folders - Sometimes surveys get flagged and aren't visible in your general inbox.
•  Check you're looking at the right inbox - your surveys are sent to the email address attached to your Kickstarter account, and it may be different from your regular email address
•  Check if you paid using Apple Pay - Some backers pay using an intermediary like Apple Pay, which may use an auto-generated email address instead of your actual account. When Backerkit tries to send out an email, it gets rejected.

Design: 

We had several questions about the actual color, so I made a small video in the daylight for a better understanding of the colors. I've sent it to the backers via direct message and just wanted share it here as well.

Timeline:

We're racing against time. Everything connected with each other. After we receive the coated components, the assembly phase will begin. Then we will ship all the rewards. 

So a very brief update this month.  We are working hard to keep the project on track as much as possible. We’ll send an update again when we have the mass coated samples in hand. Thanks again for your patience and coming along with us on the journey.

Hi Coffee Lovers!

Wanted to give you a quick update to let you know that ALL surveys have been sent out.  We made a smoke test and it worked out. Please check your inboxes and spam folders for the survey.  

You’ll receive an email from us with a special link to your BackerKit survey. It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information to fulfill your rewards.

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, and purchase add-on items if you like. You don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email!

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page here.

If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact support here. 

Production:

The waiting has ended. Finally, we received the burr sets that I have mentioned in our last update!

With your responses to the survey, we will send them to the coating vendor. 

Design: 

We've made a small change to the Knobs' design. Now it's a little longer and a little wider. It looks more elegant, holding and grabbing it is easier. 

*KNOWN ISSUE

Very high shipping cost 

Inflation is in every country and fulfillment is harder than ever. It's nearly impossible to fulfill the product without charging the increased shipping fee. As you all know we prepared our projected budget on 31 August 2021 and it changed now unexpectedly. We've worked hard to ensure the shipping rates are as accurate as possible during these rocky fulfillment times.

Hi Coffee Lovers!

Not the update we wanted to be writing, but we’re nothing if not transparent: we have to announce a production delay. This is really hard for us to say, as we really do not want to let you all down. So we’ll start this update with some whys and wherefores, before hitting on some more positive news.

Timeline 

As you all know we partnered with Italmill for the production of the titanium coated burr sets because they are in this business for decades with superb quality burr sets. However, we haven't received the burr sets yet. I think that's because of the global logistics issues that I mentioned earlier in update #6. 

Secondly, material and energy prices have gone up all over the world. The manufacturing industry works at half speed. We should have done with milling and toling and should have sent them to the coating vendor. Creating several prototypes is one thing, mass production is another. Even after you perfected the grinder from scratch while prototyping, you have to deal with the manufacturers of every little piece you need for final manufacturing. 

I'm not happy with how all of this turned out. And I'm sure you share my feelings. Now I'm hesitating to post any fixed timeline. This time I would like to be more realistic than being so optimistic. To ensure that me and my team are 100% satisfied with every single part that Knob Grinder is made of and the quality and performance of Knob Grinder are 100% like we want it to be, I needed to accept the fact that the production will be delayed at least three months. We will try to do our best to make that earlier but Knob Coffee Grinder will be sent out in June. Even though we are first-time makers, you believed in us and supported us. Once again we need your support and confidence. We are extremely grateful to all of you guys. 

Production

Now the good news, We received one of the key parts of the grinder from the manufacturer and shipped it out to the coating vendor.  

For example, manufacturing this part has 6 different stages. The photo shows the 3rd stage. 

This is the most time-consuming component of the Grinder to produce. It's halfway down. It has 7 stages. 

 This is a handmade bag to travel your grinder safely. Hope you guys like it. 

We try to find out the best brushes but turns out we should design our own brush. Hope you guys like it.  

Surveys and Shipping Address

Do not worry about your shipping address (yet). We're aware that we've talked about sending surveys but it's best to ask your addresses just before we ship out the Grinders.
